In 1965, Ham developed F-12 medium for colony formation of CHO cells, HeLa cells, and mouse L cells. Since then, F-12 has been widely used in the culture of a variety of cells and has served as the basis for synthetic media subsequently developed by many researchers.
Kohjin Bio manufactures and sells two types of Ham’s F-12, one containing L-glutamine and the other not.
